Silver Wings

In pursuit of our wine maker’s, Keith Brien, passion for making long- lived Single Estate wine, he established his own label ‘Silver Wings Wines’ highlighting a wine from Mourvedre and Shiraz fruit grown on 50 year old vines in the Shepparton region of Central Victoria. Named after Vincenzo Conte, who immigrated to Australia in 1952 and later planting the vineyard, he was subsequently killed in a road accident delivering his fruit to the markets. Keith’s privilege is to work with Vincenzo Conte’s old vines to produce outstanding quality wine in his memory. I believe through expression of soil and fruit concentration from this site, the “Vincenzo Old Vines” will become recognized as one of the great wines of Australia. The vineyard consists of plantings of approximately 60% Mourvedre and the balance Shiraz from the early 1960's.
